Okay so this one is hardly a ‘haul’ but I just wanted to share with you a couple of ‘organisation’-y bits that I have adopted for my final year at uni to both inspire myself to stick to them, and maybe to inspire you.
Anyone who knows me at uni knows that I have always very much been a last-minute-kinda-girl (No innuendo intended) and did the minimum work required to get by. But, after nearly having a panic attack over my looming dissertation, I am set.
BYE BYE SOCIAL LIFE, HELLO ORGANISATION!
The trick to creating a timetable that you might actually stick to, is to make it simple. I spread out my work load over the week and ensured that come Friday night I am completely free for the weekend. This timetable also has room for jiggling – for example, if I have an essay coming up I can rearrange it slightly to give me extra essay-writing-time (Not that I want it but… *cries*)
I’ve also let myself have a bit of free time, after 3pm I pretty much have 2 or 3 hours to myself before I have to go to work, and then also after work. I’m also gonna keep Friday pretty free, apart from my one lecture. This gives me extra time if I need it to work on essays, or having a nice long bath ready for the weekend 😀
If you have a really busy day coming up, write a detailed plan of that day
I found that by planning out my hour-by-hour movements it helped me get more focused and less stressed. And yeah, although I didn’t stick to this plan entirely I found myself doing a lot more uni work than I would have normally.
Keep a Diary
This one is pretty self explanatory, but make sure you write down every single deadline. You will regret it otherwise. *threatening fist shake*
I know sometimes it can be tempting to sit back in lectures and think ‘I’ll just read the powerpoint later’ (I know, I do it all the time >_>) but will you? WILL YOU? The answer is probably no. Even if you don’t
Clean house, clean head
I don’t know about you guys but when my room is a mess, so is my head. I can’t sit down and work, or think, or do anything productive. A wise man once said “The key to success is to keep your mess in order”. Well, he didn’t – I just made that up – BUT IT’S STILL IMPORTANT.
Quickest way to cleaning? Chuck EVERYTHING that isn’t rubbish onto the bed, put the rubbish in the bin, then put things away.
Oh, and have a shower. Showers > Caffeine when it comes to perking you up.
Well, I hope you guys enjoyed this post. It’s just a few things that have helped me so far to keep on top of everything. I’m not a nice person when I’m a massive ball of stress. Plus, isn’t it great feeling like you’re achieving something? To me, it beats all.
