I have some awful news…
I’m moving house! Blog-wise anyway. I have packed up my wordpress-girly-blog bags and have moved over to the dark world of blogger. Yeah, I know, I’m a traitor.
I will still be keeping my art and poetry blogs here, so feel free to carry on clicking the links to the right *points over there* but I feel that blogger is more suited to my informal, random liz-meets-girly attempts. If you fancy following me over there, then I would be most grateful. Or – if you now hate me and never want to see my ramblings again, I understand,
So, as the dolphins have it, so long and thanks for all the fish.
Some people love Easter, some people love Christmas but I when I was growing up, I always used to love going back to school. Aside from the chance to start the year again with fresh feet, it was the new pencil case which I loved.
You know, before the ink stains happened, before you chewed all your pen lids.
Since I left school and went to college, then uni, the thrill of having a new pencil case wore off. In fact, now I was buying things with my own money I didn’t bother! Any old pen would do.
This year I decided it would be different. Tomorrow is going to be my LAST FIRST DAY BACK!… EVER.
The diary, pencil case, notebook and pens were all from my local Sainsbury’s. As part of their ‘Back to School’ offer, everything was under, or just above. I love pens so much, and there was this great pen set (Markers, biros, gel pens, highlighters – the lot!) reduced from £7 to just over £2. Bargain!
The next splurge (This time, more expensive) was on hair products. After visiting my hairdresser for the first time in maybe six months – I know, my bad – she told me my hair was horrendously damaged. This was from a mixture of hair dye, sun, bad shampoo (FYI guys, TRESSemmé is really really bad for your hair) and heat. She had to cut off more than I wanted to and told me to invest in a GOOD shampoo and conditioner.
Now I’m a student and can’t afford expensive things, so she recommended me some good highstreet brands. Out of the two she recommended I decided to go with Aussie because I remember LOVING the smell. I bought the Colour Mate Shampoo and the Colour Mate / Three Minute Miracle conditioner. They were £4.99 each in boots, but they had a 3 for 2 offer so I bought another TMM conditioner, this time for dry long hair.
I had also heard one of the beauty vloggers I watch rave about Lush hair products, so after a chat with the sales consultant in there I blagged myself some ‘Roots’ hair treatment (Around £10 for a medium tub). Now to me Lush is expensive but so far I’m pretty impressed. I’ll do a review later, and who knows – I might even become a Lush addict!
I’m really sorry for rambling away but I have never done one of these before xD I also bought a couple of clothes in preparation for Winter, but I’ll cut this one short for now and do a fashion post later.
Thanks for reading :3
“Eat the cherries and lose the fight,
For love is letting go,
Let things be.”
– Amy Fields
Recently, I have become obsessed with these few lines of poetry. I don’t even know how I came across it and it’s near-impossible to google the poem now; I haven’t found it since!
I think it sums up a lot that I believe in, and although at first it seems a bit sombre, once you read into it, for me at least it’s really inspirational ^_^
My interpretation of these few lines mean that I believe she is telling us to embrace the sweetness in life, and stop fighting against the things that we cannot control (and therefore suppress us). The ‘love’ she talks about, and urges us to let go, is not just referring to romantic love. Love for our friends, family and partners encourages us to let go of the faults in relationships. It could even be that love means we have something worth staying happy for.
And letting be? Well we can’t control the world – it never has and never will spin around us. We must let some things in life be; accept that they are there and move on, or move around. And that’s the beauty of it.
Sometimes, defeat is the true bravery 🙂
I never know how to begin a blog. I mean – what am I supposed to say on my first post?
*panics for five minutes*
Anyway, I would love to thank Katie (here) for inspiring me to start this more personal blog (compared to my art and poetry). This will be the hub of the lizardology-wordpress-blogging-empire – Catchy, isn’t it?
I’ll be posting a little bit of everything here: life, loves, music, beauty, fashion, art, personal experiences, photos and anything else above and beyond ^_^ I’m one of those people who love inspirational things, and happiness so I hope this blog can be something positive for you, and for me.
So until next time,
